July 2010 Chapter Article

Chapter

Companions,
The year is half over, don't let the "dog" days of summer get you down. We are still meeting on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month in air conditioned comfort. July's Commandery meeting will include a dinner before the conclave.
The Grand Master of Florida's official visit to the 17th District was held recently at the Bahia Shrine. The auditorium was filled to capacity. The York Rite Grand Line for the Chapter , Council, and Commandery was well represented. Our very own Most Excellent High Priest of Florida was present and recognized by the Grand Master.
During the course of the summer we need to get the word out that we are accepting petitions for our Fall Festival 2010. The degrees are scheduled for September. Also in September is the District 5 meeting. More info will be passed along at our meetings and the Legend.
York Rite... the best kept secret in Masonry.!
See you in lodge.

Companions:
Well 2010 has started of with a "bit" of a rocky start. Some prominent Masons (as well as a few family members) have passed on to the Celestial Lodge on High. Which brings into question our own mortality. Are we ever ready for the "unexpected"? It's inevitable! We are all going to meet the Great Architect of the Universe someday. As Masons our life long journey in the quest for Light should prepare us for this day. As York Rite Masons we receive even more light. Do you practice the tenets of Freemasonry on a daily basis? Give a little extra of yourselves for the York Rite? Attend services of your faith on a regular basis? Attend Lodge and appendant body obligations? Companions, the tools and the support system to make a good man better are in place but... they only work if you use them!  See you in the Chapter..

Companions,

I would like to thank everyone for their vote of confidence in electing me as your Excellent High Priest for 2010.
With everyone's participation and input I hope to successfully guide the Companions to the next level in York Rite masonry.

Speaking of which, our survival depends on an active convocation. Recruiting new Brothers is the key. We have our Spring 2010 York rite classes just around the corner. If every Companion could turn in (1) petition... our numbers will increase gradually over the next few years.

Let's get the word out about the BEST kept secret in masonry.... THE YORK RITE!

Also, we are in need of volunteers for our degree teams. If you are interested in degree work we have a spot for you. You do not have to be an active line officer to be on a degree team.

May we have an active and propserous year.

Jerry McKinnon, Excellent High Priest

Companions:

Royal Arch Masons are looking forward to the Orlando Council's Table Council. Each year, we recognize one of the three Orlando York Rite Bodies.

This year, we honor/recognize/lightly roast or roast M.E. Companion Wayne E. Parks Past Grand High Priest.

The Honoree is a Past Grand High Priest in Florida. He has had a lifetime of service to Masons in Florida (and the World). We are looking forward to a fun evening and we expect to raise funds to support all three Humanitarian Charities.

Please put the date of October 8th on your calendar. It is a regular meeting night, so come and honor a friend & companion, knowing your contribution goes to a noble cause.

Companions:
We have celebrated Memorial Day Weekend. We need to remember those brave persons who gave their life for America.

I believe we are perhaps the most advanced Civilization ever. We have Global Positioning Satellites, the Internet, cell phones, etc.. And yet, the questions are: Do we use the advantages of History and Circumstance to make a better World? Do we serve God and our fellow man? That should be our price to pay.

Thanks to those who gave their lives for us, and thanks to those who selflessly serve the Order.

Companions:

We have had an exciting month. We received several new Companions this month and we put them to work during our March Chapter meeting. Once again, our thanks go out to those Brothers from Orlando, Sanford, Eustis and Brevard County who came and participated.

Remember, we are planning on putting on a One-Day Class in September.

We are planning on attending the State Convention in April and will report on it.

I want to close my article by making an obserevation. We all know that our Nation is undergoing financial troubles. I am sure we all know people and families who are having hard times. We also know that Masons stand for Charity.

Companions:

Hello to all, and we hope your year is off to a fine start. We have been doing Degree Work at eola Lodge, and we have a fine group of candidates.

I want to issue a personal note of congratulatios to the Companions who are working on these Degrees. You are doing a impressive job. We are moved by the dignity and beauty of the Ritual as it unfolds before us. The love that you have for York Rite Masonry is awesome. Both new and experienced, young and old work together to make up our fine Degree Team.

The members include Companions: Gerald Favor, Patrick Biggs, Ricardo Parente, Erik Anderson, Sam Tish, John Fletcher, Richard Fox, Miguel Arteaga, Wayne Parks, tom Rice, Jim Dickenson and Gerald McKinnon. R.E. Harry Eisenberg and D.I. James Moore have overseen the effort. Companions from Eustis, Sanford and Brevard County have also participated. If any Companion has been omitted, please forgive me.

If you like to assist us, please contact Wayne Parks or John Fletcher. If you know of a good candidate for these beautiful Degrees, please arrange to get a petition to them. We would like to do them again. There is also the potential to have a "One-Day Festival" in the fall.
